About us

What you loved as a child remains in your heart until you`ve reached an old age. (Khalil Gibran)

Since I was a child, gallery G at the Heidelberg Neckar riverbank felt like home. Art is my daily bread, as familiar to me as the air I breathe. The Gallery, opened by my father in 1967, gained international prestige and was known worldwide for excellent Wild-life Art.

And I was always right there in the middle of it all! In 1998, I took over the gallery completely. By then, I had already integrated the genres of contemporary art, sculpture and art of the 19th and 20th centuries into our welcomed gallery program. From 1999 we were regularly participating at art fairs in Germany and abroad. We received a lot of attention for our collection of works by Norbertine von Bresslern-Roth at the Grazer Kongress, the Wiener Hofburg and the Salzburg Residenz. We also received attention for and our "Neue Sachlichkeit"exhibition, which was held in 2002 with more than 80 graphic works from eleven well-known artists. And we have participated in many, many art fairs including those at the Schwetzinger Schloss, at art KARLSRUHE, and in Wiesbaden, Munich and Düsseldorf.

45 years after the foundation of gallery g, I had to answer the question of how to meet the challenges of the art trade in the 21st century. I decided to close the shop in order to be able to adapt my work to the needs of my customers, notably by no longer restricting opening hours.

With Kunst - Kompetenz - Petra Kern, we now have a digital presence, which – contrary to the typical online art trade - enables us to have more personal contact, provide intensive consultation and deliver reliable customer support. For us, having a digital presence offers the ideal conditions for more personal connection and creative freedom. We participate more intensively in trade fairs and have established the popular intimate event "Entre Nous" for selected art lovers. The most important thing, however, is that we create the time and space for customer visits, both at home and abroad. As a result, we are able to advise our clients in the privacy of their own homes or at their business premises so they can see desired works of art "in real life" – we take the time so that our customers don’t have to, which is the ultimate service we can provide.
