Alain Le Boucher

Boucher, Alain Le

Artist, *1950 in Paimpol (France)

About the artist

Alain Le Boucher was born in 1950 in Paimpol, France. He lives and works in Normandy.

Several public monumental commissions helped give Alain Le Boucher’s work a major exposure:

- La Coquille, commission by city of Reims (egg shape – height: 6 meters)

- Charlie, commission by the city of Bourges : a cube with 4-meter long sides.

Alain Le Boucher has been working for more than 20 years on his Luchrone series project, a body of work at the crossroad between sculpture and scientific thought. Mathematics, used for a creative process seen as “musical” by the artist, give his works a highly poetic dimension. At the same time, the aesthetical nature of his own works never pretends to hide its technical parti-pris: the skeleton of his sculptures must always remain visible. The welded pieces of metal, the LED lights, micro-processors which command the light sequences can be seen at all times… until they disappear from the spectator’s perception and let the presence of the light and its movements fill his mental space.
